A little history from Wikipedia. The Spartan Aircraft Company was an American aircraft manufacturing company formerly known as Mid-Continent Aircraft Company and reorganized under the Spartan name in 1928 by oil baron William G. Skelly in Tulsa oklahoma. Spartan built a number of different products before the closing its factories in 1961 including aircraft aircraft components and recreational vehicle trailers. Spartan was best known for the luxurious Spartan Executive aircraft produced in the late 1930s and early 1940s made famous by such owners as Howard Hughes and King Ghazi of Iraq. J. Paul Getty acquired the company from Skelly in 1935. After World War II Getty ceased producing aircraft and converted the company to manufacturing trailers. Owning to the increased competition of the aircraft business following World War II owner J. Paul Getty and Spartan upper-management decided to change the company's product line to meet the skyrocketing demand for housing and leisure. Using the same internally-braced and space-saving monocoque design of the Spartan Executive 7W the company produced its first all-metal trailer. The company followed in the footsteps of previous design strategies and aimed to become the most lavish and full-featured trailers produced in the united states. Through the 1940s and 1950s Spartan produced what would quickly become known as the "Cadillac" of trailers commanding prices upwards of $4000 each. Spartan produced over 40000 trailer homes before it ceased production in 1961. Considering the average home cost in the United States at this time was $8000 Spartan trailers were deemed expensive and like the Spartan Executive 7W available to the select and wealthy few. 1957 Spartan Executive Mansion Restored to Hollywood Standards The restoration includes almost too much to list. It has been in San Diego for its entire life,in one park, so no water damage and no mold was discovered in its rebuild. FIFTY feet long and 8" wide make this the largest produced. The new kitchen boasts a Euro 4 burner stove and the original 1957 Preway re-chromed and restored oven - all operate on tongue mounted propane tanks allowing you the max flexibility and hottest cooking in use today. The water is heated by a large new Takagi propane water heater. The entire water and drain system was remove and replaced. The kitchen cabinets and bath cabinets replace with real wood slide outs, and a stainless food grade counter. The flooring is "train station" grade Armstrong installed on the diamond. Grass cloth was installed over the original surfaces making it a beach feeling and reducing the cigar box feeling they had originally. A hundred feet of aluminum trim line the doorways and sink areas. Food grade stainless tops out the expanded kitchen counter. The original ceiling was left alone, a testament to its water tightness. The trailer was tented this year, so its bug free. The cotton drapes were all custom fitted to each window. Two a/c units keep the temps cool, and without body modifications. The shower and sink are stainless with a full size bath - the only model you can sit down bathe in! The pink is all original to this upgraded edition. New tires and split rims with a recent repack last month to ensure a safe transport. Trailer lights are new and run the entire length and will plug into any receiver. Tows like a dream with any 3/4 ton truck. No moving permits required as its registered as a mobile home. There are no holding tanks - as this is a park model, not something go travel in. Note: I HAVE THE BONDED TITLE IN HAND WITH the correct 2104 registration documents - in my name - that would allow its placement in any park. Don't buy any trailer without ownership papers - you wouldn't buy a house or boat with out proof of ownership. This was a 2 year undertaking, and for those of you who are not familiar with the SPARTAN brand let me give you a brief piece of history:Spartan Aircraft was owned by none other than the late J. Paul Getty and the company was based in Tulsa Oklahoma, where they produced a number of Executive Aircraft and many considered them to be the most luxurious and commodious aircraft of their day. Because of their unique mono - design they had more interior room, and owner/celebrities like Howard Hughes and King Ghazi of Iraq popularized them as the "business jet" of their day! Spartan made Navy trainers during WWII, and after the war they were left with a great deal of "Aircraft Grade" Aluminum (The Best! That's why the old ones can be polished and the newer ones, not so much) J. Paul Getty restructured the company, and the aircraft assembly line to produce the best travel trailers that money could buy. Using the same internally braced and space-saving mono- design of the Spartan Executive 7W, the company produced its first all-metal trailer. The company followed previous design strategies, offering lavish and full-featured trailers. Through the 1940s and 1950s, Spartan produced what some referred to as the "Cadillac" of trailers, commanding prices higher than this MANSION - $8000. Spartan produced over 40,000 trailer homes before ending production in 1961. This was the price of a house in the 50's.The truly amazing about these "tin cans" is they are water tight like nothing else I've ever seen! Please ask questions before buying - you have 10 days to examine the trailer. If you fail to show up I will keep the deposit as Ebay will charge fees to me and its a hassle.I value my 100 per cent feedback, so please ask questions first.949 285 2855
