I've finished this fantastic 12,000 mile trip to 31 US and 3 Canadian national parks and monuments and, as planned, am putting it up for sale. As you can see from the photos this vehicle went up and down the most challenging mountains in the west and crossed deserts that saw temperatures rise up to 120 degrees. This gem of an RV did it with ease, comfort and style - primarily because of the its big, 6.0 liter, 332 hp Vortec V8 engine, paired with GM's heavy-duty Hydra-Matic 6-speed automatic transmission that made going up and down steep mountain grades and curves a breeze. This is a serious engine - one that Chevrolet put in their heavy duty Silverado 3500 pick up trucks for improved performance and long life.If your intention in buying a Roadtrek is to use it in a flat state like Florida, or on some low hills around your home, don't buy this vehicle - you can save money by buying a Roadtrek with the small 4.8 liter V6 instead. But, if you want an RV to tow a boat, pull a small trailer, or intend go to some of the places I've been - where you might have to drive up an 8 degree road for 5 or 6 miles while trying to pass slow moving trucks or large RVs, then a Roadtrek with the 6.0 V8 engine is the only one you should buy. If you opt to save some bucks instead and go with the small engine, my experience on this trip convinces me you'll live to regret it. Checked with John Elway Chevrolet regarding a 20k mile checkup when I reached Denver. They advised that according to GM what I had just done to vehicle was all that would have been done in 20k checkup, so no further service was required. Bridgestone tires have plenty of rubber left. I recently purchased this to live in but wound up moving into an apartment instead. Now this old trooper has to go. It runs great, just passed smog, has been well-maintained and all of its systems are in working order. I have the clean title and am ready to sign it over. Upon preparing for its sale, I found a leak which has done some damage to the wood in the wall of the bed area above the cab. It's going to need some work because of this and the price reflects the situation. There is no rust involved in this leak issue. I have been trying to decide how to best resolve it, but I would rather someone else did it. It's an old rig and it has some quirks, but it has a great engine that trucks right up big hills with no problem and sails down the freeway at 80 easy. The tires are in great shape. The interior is in great condition for its age and very clean, except the aforementioned problem area above the cab. It doesn't seem like it's ever been lived in because it's so clean. It has been well loved and to see it,you will know this. The Lazy Days RVs are custom made to order here in California and the guy who sold it to me said that he found their customer service department very helpful. I'm already taking a beating on the price, so if you need it much lower than this, please move on to the next rv. 2005 National Tropi-cal 370LX with Diamond Package Executive Summary: National Tropi-Cal is the best example of a pre-owned short diesel around. At only 37’1”, It is easy to park and maneuver but fantastic floorplan lives like a 40’ RV. A ton of small features, build quality, and focus on live-ability make this a great choice. This motorhome has been well-maintained by 2 obsessive “RV-nerds” while used with care and it shows! We found this coach in town and purchased from a wonderful lady whose husband unfortunately had passed away. They were really huge into RVing and we learned WHY National is THE way to go. We’ve used it this year towing a single car trailer to 4 races without any trouble. If we were staying with 1 car, we would be keeping it. Yes it is that good. National built RVs with far more quality than many coach builders: Thick insulated walls and ceiling, great cabinet work, great styling, and a ton of standard features. The paint used is much higher than other RVs and it shows. Of course since they weren’t building cheap crap, they went out of business in 2007 in the downturn. There is a reason National still has some of the highest re-sale values in the RV industry. Coaches need to be used, but not abused. Coach has only 68k miles which is not even broken in for a diesel. However, it was not sitting around not running which isn’t good for the mechanicals (as any RV service tech will tell you) At the same time the couple that owned it used it in the summer to travel with it stored under cover when not used(as do my wife and I). The ONLY reason my wife and I are selling this coach is because we need to pull a stacker and 2 race cars which means Toterhome or Tag RV.
